But those who have had the displeasure to work with me on a daily basis have come to know me as THE CHUCKMEISTER: Rogue designer, Tragically unfashionably fashionable, Too creative for the word 'creative', Too cool for anything cool unless it's uncool cool, Such l337ness that he has Photoshop open but not working on anything. *and yes the tongue is firmly planted in the cheek*|W|P|115702484241633797|W|P|alter ego|W|P|nospam@timrudder.com9/01/2006 12:29:26 PM|W|P|phoreal|W|P|mate...8/30/2006 09:54:00 AM|W|P|tim|W|P|

I've been talking to an overseas company that's trying to help reduce poverty in countries like India, Kenya, Mexico.. about doing some web design work for them. Talk about actually flying to India to which would be totally mind boggling. But yeah all talk atm.

But am just reading into global poverty at the moment and the statistics are just gut wrenching.

"Half the world, — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day."

"The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined."

"Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names."

"* 10.6 million children died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 * 1.4 million children die each year from lack of access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation"

I was cleaning out my bedroom and come accross this old polaroid. It's me with an old friend taken a day or two before I flew to America for my working holiday. She'd probably hate me for posting that. haha.. But it's a sad feeling to look back at these photos and see close friendships that aren't there anymore (mainly) because of distance. Not something you want to be thinking about when you're about to move O/S. Memory trip got me side tracked and ended up finding some others: Brandon, Ryan and Justin (LA + Hawaii) Le + Arun (Melb) Fongy + Kim (WA) Fahud (Maldives)|W|P|115657549481069822|W|P|memory lane|W|P|nospam@timrudder.com8/26/2006 07:22:16 PM|W|P|stella|W|P|That was so damn sad. Yet I completely empathise with it rudder.8/25/2006 07:35:00 PM|W|P|tim|W|P|I get that question a lotfrom friends and family about work . Here's a good example for those who've asked that question. Should acknowledge it was done through Newgency. I designed the site based on a current campaign HP is running. The hand and plane were what I was given to work with, along with a HP corporate style guide. The three bottom sections were brought in from a pre-existing site and didn't have to do much on them. Layout took a day and actual build was about 3. I had a bit of fun making the clouds animate and making an interactive map to show where you can fly. And another one.. Work I'd rather be pursuing: An illustration job I've got on at the moment for an accounting firm (got it through a friend at a marketing company). The client wanted 2 versions of a 4 headed dragon, one fierce and uncontrollable and one quite tame. While I think it's a lame concept it was fun to draw. Both dragons were sketched out and signed off by the client before jumping on the computer. All up it was about 20 hours work for both dragons (still not signed off on though).|W|P|115650350037766093|W|P|"So what do you actually do"|W|P|nospam@timrudder.com8/22/2006 08:36:00 AM|W|P|tim|W|P|For the self portrait I based it on a photo I took on my laptop. :|8/20/2006 02:12:00 PM|W|P|tim|W|P|Such a busy week. I've had some illustration work come in which is fantastic. But meant last week was a 60+ hour working week. :| Seems the "hey you're leaving let's catch up"s are starting to happen this week. Will try and make an effort to see everyone. I've pencilled in a bar for a farewell (just need to pay the deposit) so people leave SAT SEPT 2ND free! Anyway theme on the AIF sketch thread was self portrait. Not sure whether that's a reflection of me not having anything interesting to say.. or just not enough time to bother saying something. Have been flat out with work the past couple weeks and will be like that for the next couple. Often that's a bad thing seeing I don't particularly have any aspirations to stay in web design (apart from supporting myself in japan) but it's actually been really great. The place I'm at now has hired a new junior, so all of a sudden I've had some seniority bestowed upon me. I can focus on doing more layout/design work and not worry so much about the actual production side of things.. My flight is booked for September 5th and will be picking up my visa in the next few days. I've also changed places in where I'll be living in Tokyo. Will now be a bike ride away from Shinjuku, Harajuku and Shibuya which is perfect. Currently looking into how long I want to spend in Thailand. Not sure about a farewell yet. Social front has been a bit of the same old same old. Just got back from an exhibition opening which I was really impressed by. Usual swans match last saturday, life drawing monday, muddled the times up for a film I was supposed to see tonight however.. Was invited last night to a fund raiser auction night/dinner at the Sheraton (bling bling x2) through work. Was organised by HP and think it was really for managers/big wigs who have money to splash on Don Bradman cricket bats and the like. Seeing the studio I'm at is so small compared to most other companies there most of the team were able to go. Watching a bunch of suits get hypmotised was amusing. In a sad, sad way. Night ended up raising $30,000 for the Starlight Foundation so it's all good I guess.. Could really do with another bourbon and coke right now. oh.. and if i had a cat i would've fed it. ;)|W|P|115530074180444542|W|P|ding dang dong|W|P|nospam@timrudder.com8/10/2006 08:38:00 AM|W|P|tim|W|P|one for drawing board.. photo referenced. can you tell who of? will do a proper colouring job on the weekend.. |W|P|115516674238115330|W|P|guess who|W|P|nospam@timrudder.com8/10/2006 10:54:06 AM|W|P|phoreal|W|P|Angelina Jolie.8/19/2006 02:57:07 AM|W|P|Oli|W|P|I likes it muchly.8/09/2006 03:05:00 PM|W|P|tim|W|P|Yessssss..
